UNCAN-Connect, a federation of federations

53 partners building the open-source infrastructure that will let researchers discover and analyse cancer data across Europe, while sensitive patient data remains under national control.

Holos is a member of UNCAN-Connect, the €30 million Horizon Europe flagship of the EU Mission on Cancer: 53 partners building an open-source "federation of federations" that will let researchers discover and analyse cancer data across Europe while sensitive patient data remains under national control. The consortium's proposal scored 14.0 out of 15.0.

The programme targets six cancer types (paediatric, pancreatic, lymphoid malignancies, lung, ovarian, and prostate) and one hard number: contributing to the Mission's goal of improving three million lives by 2030. What Holos brings is exactly what it proved in CLARIFY and SHARE: the engineering that makes federated health data actually work.

These programmes are not isolated efforts. UNCAN-Connect counts among its partners centres of Cancer Core Europe, the alliance of leading European cancer institutes (including the German Cancer Research Center, DKFZ) working towards a pan-European virtual cancer institute. The infrastructure Holos engineers is what lets ecosystems like this turn fragmented, hospital-bound information into research that reaches patients.
