CLARIFY, AI follow-up for cancer survivors
Which survivors of breast cancer, lung cancer, and lymphoma face the greatest risk of decline after treatment, and why. CLARIFY was built to answer the question clinics could not.
Europe is home to an estimated 8.7 million cancer survivors, and more than half of adults diagnosed with cancer now live at least five years. That success created a new clinical problem: when oncological treatment ends, the risk does not. CLARIFY (Cancer Long Survivors Artificial Intelligence Follow Up) was built to answer a question clinics could not: which survivors of breast cancer, lung cancer, and lymphoma face the greatest risk of decline after treatment, and why. Holos was one of twelve partners from five countries, coordinated by the Madrid health service (Servicio Madrileño de Salud), in a €4.8 million Horizon 2020 project.
The platform integrates clinical records, public biomedical databases, and data from wearable devices into knowledge graphs, and applies statistical relational learning and explainable AI, so clinicians see not just a risk score but the reasons behind it. That is what turns a prediction into a decision a doctor can act on.
In 2024, the European Commission's Innovation Radar identified the project's Dashboard for Cancer Data Analysis as a market-ready innovation with high market-creation potential, and named Holos and Servicio Madrileño de Salud as its Top Innovators. CLARIFY did not end with the project: its platform is where the clinical data resides, and it now feeds Spain's national cancer data space through an integration engineered by Holos.
