Holos Sponsored a Seminar on Electrical Energy in Luanda

Holos was one of the main sponsors of SEEA2011, the first edition of the Seminar on Electrical Energy in Angola, held in Luanda on 8 and 9 September 2011.

Organised by Universidade Agostinho Neto (Luanda) in cooperation with Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa, the seminar's main objective was to promote debate on strategic issues for the development of the electricity sector in Angola.

Over these two days, topics addressed included “Energy Policies and Sustainable Development”, “Risk Management in Public-Private Partnerships”, “Electrical Energy Production”, “Transmission and Distribution of Electrical Energy”, “Renewable Energies” and “Teaching Electrical Energy Engineering”. Notable presentations included one by the MINEA Secretary of State for Energy, Eng. João Baptista Borges, on “Energy policies and sustainable development in Angola”; one by Eng. Francisco Reis of EnTSOe, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, on “The transmission grid and the development of interconnections”; and one by the Rector of Universidade Agostinho Neto, Professor Orlando Fernandes da Mata, on “The challenges of higher education in Angola”.

On the seminar's final day, a debate was held on “Challenges of the Energy Sector for the Future of Angola” in a “round table” format, in which all participants were invited to take part. The debate was moderated by the MINEA Secretary of State for Energy, Eng. João Baptista Borges; Professor Moreira Lima, of Universidade Agostinho Neto; and Professor Adolfo Steiger Garção, President of the Board and of the Scientific Committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Universidade Nova de Lisboa.

The seminar falls within one of Holos's areas of activity (Electrical Power Systems).
