Holos was one of the major sponsors of SEEA2011 – the First edition of the Seminar on Electricity held in Angola in Luanda on the September 08th and 09th 2011.
Sponsored by the University Agostinho Neto (Luanda) in cooperation with the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa, this Seminar aimed mainly at promoting the discussion of strategic issues for the development of the electricity sector in Angola.
Throughout the seminar’s two days subjects like “Energy Policy and Sustainable Development”, “Risk Management in Public-Private Partnerships”, “Production of Electricity”, “Transport and Distribution of Electricity”, “Renewable Energy” and “Teaching Electric Power Engineering”, were discussed, highlighting the presentations made by the Secretary of State for Energy MINEA João Baptista Borges entitled “Energy policies and sustainable development of Angola”, by Eng Francisco Reis, EnTSOe, European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, focusing on “The transportation network and the development of interconnections” and by the Principal of Agostinho Neto University, Professor Orlando Fernandes da Mata, on “The challenges of higher education in Angola”.
On the last day of the seminar a roundtable debate was held under the theme of “Challenges of the Department of Energy for the future of Angola” in which all participants were invited to participate in a discussion moderated by the Secretary of State for Energy MINEA, João Baptista Borges, Professor Moreira Lima, Agostinho Neto University Professor and Professor Adolfo Steiger Garção, Chairman and Scientific Committee of the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Faculty of Science and Technology, New University of Lisbon.
